Sheffield Basketball

Four unbeaten teams remain

Goole Warriors, Chesterfield (both Division 1), Team Nook (Division 2) and Sheffield Suns (Division 3) are all still unbeaten as we move towards the end of October.
Goole defeated Rotherham Rams, Darfield and Loxley in the month to start 4-0 in their first season in SBL. Chesterfield were inactive in October, but face upcoming games against Tenacious D, Rams and Darfield as a test of their credentials.
Team Nook won games against Rotherham Hawks 1 and Retford Raiders to move to 3-0 on the season, but haven't pulled away at the top of Division 2 with MLS Sharks (3-1), Worksop 1 (2-1) and Niagara SYP (1-1) all having just one loss on the season.
Sheffield Suns have won all four of their games in Division 3 on the season. They started the month of October with a tense 51-50 win over Worksop 2 (highlights below) and backed that up with comfortable victories over Horbury Hornets and Rotherham Hawks 2.
As well as they close loss to Suns, Worksop 2 were also involved in one of two incredible overtime games in the month - both of which involved Hillsborough.
In the first of their overtime games Hillsborough recovered from a 33-9 deficit to to take Storm to the extra period and kept their opponents off the board in overtime to win 60-53.
In the second overtime game a three pointer from Worksop's Jamie Clarke in the closing seconds sent the game to a fifth period. Hillsborough then scored 4 points in the closing moments of overtime, including a banked buzzer-beating three by Lee Hodkinson, to force a second period of overtime and two free throws by Chris Moriarty in the final seconds of the second overtime gave them a one point win.
