Worksop take Division 2 title

Worksop clinched the SBL Division 2 title for 2011/12 with a 48-39 victory over MLS Sharks on February 23.
The win improved Worksop's record to 10-2 on the season and Sharks are now the only team that can match their win total.
Having beaten Sharks 75-28 earlier in the season, Worksop have clinched the head-to-head decider meaning that even if they lose their last two league games, they will finish top of the division.
Head Coach Steve Lawes is a happy man: "This is a great achievement for all the team and club members of Worksop Basketball. The players give 100% every training session and every game and this success is a well-deserved reward.
"As the league stats will show, we don't have any players putting up big numbers every week, we have been totally reliant on everyone chipping in. We haven't played well every game but we've benefited from our five years in the league and our experience has carried us through when our performances have been below par.
"This is our third trophy in five years so we can look forward to more celebrations to end this season!
"Worksop Basketball would like to take this opportunity to thank all the officials and volunteers who make the SBL run so smoothly and we look forward to more enjoyable years in our excellent league."
In other action in the league in a curtailed February calendar, Foulstone Flyers have moved up to third spot in Division 2 with back-to-back wins against Worksop and Sheffield Suns and G-Corp kept the pressure on Loxley at the top of Division 1 with a narrow victory against Tenacious D.
