Regular season comes to an end

The 2011/12 SBL regular season is almost entirely in the books as we gear up for the Cup and Plate competitions.
Due to a booking mix-up there is still one league game left in Division 2 between Worksop and Horbury Hornets - which is important to Horbury as a win against the league champions will see them avoid a last-placed finish - which will be re-arranged as soon as possible.
In Division 1, Team Screen finished their regular season with 5 straight wins to claim second place behind Loxley. Their scalps included a thirty point thrashing of G-Corp and wins over Rotherham Rams and Rotherham Hawks (twice) as they finished the season 7-5 and claimed the head-to-head tie-breaker over G-Corp.
The title had been Loxley's for a number of weeks and they rounded off their season with a comfortable 72-50 victory over Tencaious D in which Damien Ashby recorded 20 points, 24 rebounds and 7 assists as they finished the season with an 11-1 record.
After the game they were presented with the Division 1 trophy and coach John Wilson commented: "It feels great to win the Division 1 championship again. We have 7 members of our team that have played for Loxley since 2005 and have added some good players over the past few seasons. We have a real team ethic at our club and that combined with our years of experience have proven invaluable this season.
"It's good to see everyone on the score sheet tonight for our final league game of the season. We hope to carry this momentum into the knock out cup competition."
The next few weeks will see the make-up of the Cup and Plate competitions decided with the Cup quarter-finals due to start on April 26 and the Plate quarter-finals beginning on May 10.
