Rotherham Rams victorious in Plate final

Rotherham Rams claimed the SBL Plate with a comfortable 70-43 victory over Hillsborough in the final.
The gap was only eight points at half-time, but an 18-0 run to start the third period put the result beyond doubt as the Division 2 team couldn't stay with their Division 1 opponents.
Hillsborough scored the first points of the game and led until the mid-way stage of the opening period until a 13-3 run to end the first quarter by Rams.
Hillsborough stuck around in quarter two as six points from Pete Hopkinson had them down by just three points at 27-24.
Rams scored the final four points of the half, meaning that over the half-time break they scored 22 straight points, holding Hillsborough scoreless for 11 minutes and turning a close contest into something resembling a blow-out.
The Division 2 team did manage to get on the board eventually, but they found themsleves down 54-33 at the final break with no real shot at getting back into the game.
Steve Jeffries was named as MVP thanks to a 22 point, 11 rebound double-double. The rest of Rams' scoring was spread around with Richard Hudson (11 points, 11 rebounds), Nick Ashforth (9 points), James Cusack (8 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks) and Dale Frost (8 points) all making strong contributions.
Hillsborough were led by 20 points from Jonny Kelly, with Hopkinson adding 10 and no-one else topping 4.
