Rams maintain unbeaten start

December was a month of few games in preparation for the Xmas break, but nevertheless there were some important games in the month.

Division 3 leaders Rotherham Rams continued their unbeaten start to the season with a pair of hard-fought victories over Sheffield Storm 1 (58-50) and Sheffield Chinese 1 (76-60). Despite a 7-0 record Rams will still have to keep their wits about them in the D3 race with Titans 3 also winning a pair of games this month and with the two still to clash twice in 2018.

The final game of the month saw Darfield hand Titans 2 their first loss of the season with a 72-65 victory behind a combined 53 points from Kyle Styan (20), Nathan Suttle (17) and Jeremy Lonsdale (16). The result moves Darfield level with Titans on five wins and one loss and with Team Nook 2 just one victory behind in the table the title race looks set for an interesting finish.

There was an important game at the bottom of Division 1 this month, with Titans 1 being the ones to break their losing streak this season in a 58-48 victory over Sheffield Starz 1.

January will again be fairly light on fixtures, but it will see the first of the Rotherham Rams v Titans 3 clashes as well as the always enticing meeting between Team Nook 1 and Loxley in Division 1. On top of this the Division 4 title could well be decided as Retford Rampage put their unbeaten record on the line against second place Ecclesall Hunters.

Merry Xmas from all at SBL.
