Three way race in Division 1

The Division 1 season has started intriguingly with G-Corp defeating reigning champions Team Nook 1 to hand them their first defeat since the 2016 Cup final. However, G-Corp have also lost to Loxley, who in turn have lost to Nook to see all three teams sat with one loss.

The return fixtures do not start unil January, so it may be a while before one of the teams moves clear of the others.

In Division 2 there is an unbeaten team in Titans 2 and they have been winning their games by an average of more than 25 points. They are not far ahead of Darfield and Team Nook 2 though, both of whom have 1 loss. Titans 2 and Darfield still have to meet twice this season and their clashes could decide the destination of the division title.

At the bottom of the league table there is equally tense competition with Barnsley Barbarians (2-3), Chesterfield (1-4), Wickersley Vikings (1-4) and NuOla Sheffield Saxons (1-5) all within one victory of each other.

Rotherham Rams look well set in Division 3 having started with five straight victories, but with ten games still left on the season things could change. Their closest matchup was with Titans 3, whom they defeated 67-64, and it is Titans who are closest to them in the standings with four wins and two defeats.

With the fixture structure in Divsion 4 seeing each team play the others only once each match up could be crucial by season's end and it is feasible that one loss could prevent a team from taking the title.

Retford Rampage have started the season with five straight victories, but with games against Ecclesall Hunters (4-1) and Sheffield Chinese 2 (3-1) still to come they will have to stay at the top of their game if they want to take the division title.

Upcoming in the month of December are the first meeting of the season between Darfield and Titans 2 as well as a chance for Elev8 Sheffield Suns to have their say in the Division 1 race as they face both Team Nook 1 and G-Corp.
