Discipline decision - withdrawal of Pitsmoor Pirates 2 and 3

On January 12 Pitsmoor Pirates 2 fielded Abdi Mohamed (who is the nominated five for Pitsmoor Pirates 1) in their game against Sheffield Storm 1.

Earlier in the season Pirates 1 and 2 had their nominated fives mandated by the league due to complaints received from teams in Divisions 3 and 4.

Subsequent to this decision Abdi continued to play for Pitsmoor Pirates 2 and on each occasion the game was forfeited and Pirates 2 were docked league points.

In December the league committee contacted Pirates and Abdi and advised that if it happened again they would remove Pirates 2 and Pirates 3 from the league for this season and that Abdi would be suspended to an (as yet to be decided) number of games.

Prior to the game on January 12, league committee member Craig Costello spoke to the assembled Pirates squad and made sure that they knew the consequences of Abdi playing. He then played in the game.

Consequently Pirates 2 and 3 are no longer in the SBL competitions for this season and their results have been removed from the records.

Addtionally Abdi Mohamed has been suspended for two games, meaning he misses the Pitsmoor Pirates games on January 24 and February 8 (pending fixture rearrangements).

All other clubs in the league should be aware that this has meant a number of changes to upcoming fixtures (including this coming Friday). Please ensure that you are up to date with your future fixtures and let us know if there are any issues with fulfilling them.
