Titans claim upper hand

The big clash at the top of Division went the way of Titans as they ended the unbeaten start of Team Nook 1 with a 91-74 victory.

It was Nook who started fastest to lead 7-2, but the rest of the opening quarter was very even and Titans led 22-19 at the first break.

With Titans ahead by six early in the second quarter, Nook made a big move with a 12-1 run only to see Titans end the half on a 11-3 run to claim a 45-39 half-time edge.

Nook clawed back early in the third, but Titans again responded with a 13-3 burst and then killed off the game with a 13-2 run spread across the final break to push into a 19 point lead.

Xavier McIntosh led the way with 35 points for the victors, supported by 17 points each from Wes Skaines and Renatas Stasenas. Joseph Baugh top scored for Nook with 26 points and Jonny Kelly added 19.

Titans are back in action early in the New Year with an important clash against Loxley, but the majority of the action will be in other divisions. Division 3 in particular sees some important clashes with Sheffield Storm 1 facing both Worksop and Sheffield Chinese 1 between now and February 1 as well as some interesting match ups at the other end of the table.

Merry Xmas from all at Sheffield Basketball League.
