Team Nook claim league and Cup double

Team Nook 1 claimed their second consecutive league and cup double with a 84-79 victory over Loxley in the Cup final.

In a game that neither team ever led by more than 9 points - with that lead coming very late in the contest - it was a few decisive plays in the fourth quarter that decided it in Nook's favour.

Nook led 68-67 shortly into the final period and padded their lead thanks to a three point play by Napthali Nembhard and a triple from Joseph Baugh. Back-to-back scores from James Kelly in the game's final four minutes saw Nook's lead extended to 81-72 and left Loxley with too much to do.

A look at the box score shows that both teams held the lead for nearly exactly 20 minutes and that Nook's accuracy from behind the three point line (43% to 29%) was pivotal.

Joseph Baugh won another Cup final MVP award (his third) with a double-double of 32 points and 12 rebounds - adding 5 assists for good measure. Nembhard (19) and Kelly (16) also scored in double figures for the victors. Loxley had 59 points combined from Atif Khan (30) and Garnet Gayle (29). Gayle added 18 rebounds and 7 assists.
