Titles on the line

With five weeks remaining in the regular season the division titles are soon to be decided.

In Division 4 Sheffield Medics have moved within one victory of claiming the title thanks to a 49-41 win against closest rivals Sheffield Storm 2. Medics could claim the title next week, but face the only team to have beaten them so far this season in USB Spartans 2.

Sheffield Hallam University remained on course for the Division 2 title in February with a pair of convincing victories. They downed Rotherham Rams 111-46 and Barnsley Barbarians 77-56 to remain clear at the top of the table. Mathematically, they still require two wins to claim the trophy and will be looking to move one win closer when they face university rivals USB Spartans 1 next week.

The first big clash of March is on Thursday when Titans meet Team Nook 1 in a game that will likely decide the champions on Division 1. Titans are unbeaten so far on the season and Nook's only blemish is against Titans themselves. The first contest between the pair finished 91-74 to Titans, meaning that Nook will require an 18 point victory to claim any head-to-head advantage.

A Titans win on Thursday will give them the title, but even if they lose (by less than 17) they can still win the division with victories in their final games against Loxley and G-Corp.

The Division 3 race was decided early in February, with Sheffield Storm 1 now standing at 13-0 at the top of the table. The final month of the season will still see some interesting Division 3 clashes as the battles for 2nd and 5th continue.

The month also holds hope for our current winless teams of getting off the mark. Wickersley Vikings face a Barnsley Barbarians team that have lost six an row and Ecclesall Hunters' final game of the season is against a Rotherham Hawks team that sit only one place above them in the table.
