Enter a team

The Sheffield Basketball League has two seasons. Our regular season runs from September/October to May and we also organise a summer competition which normally runs from June to August. Both leagues are run as central venue leagues.
To Enter Teams Will Need:
  • A Team Contact - A secretary and an alternative contact (at least one with an Email address and mobile phone number)
  • Uniform - Teams should have two contrasting sets of numbered player kits (shirts and shorts)
  • Players - Teams must have a large enough squad to fulfil a season of fixtures, taking into account holidays and injuries etc. We would suggest around 9 players as a minimum.
  • Finance - The team must have sufficient finances in place to fulfil a season's fixtures, which includes: league entry fee, game fees, training costs and England Basketball club and player registrations.

Benefits of Entering the Sheffield Basketball League
  • All venue bookings for SBL games are made by the league.
  • All league and cup competitions fixtures are created, updated and distributed by the league.
  • Referees and table officials are appointed to every game by the league.
  • Games take place at  EIS-Sheffield on Wednesday and Thursday nights and All Saints School on Friday nights
  • Results, tables and statistics are collated by the league and updates are provided during the season on the website.
  • The League is affiliated and insured with England Basketball. All participants, players, coaches or officials must register with the league. SBL will then register everyone with England Basketball or alternatively if individuals are registered with other clubs the league will check with EB that all individuals are registered.
  • All games are officiated by qualified and registered England Basketball officials.
  • All teams need to do is turn up, pay and play!
